Tips For Teachers: How To Keep Students Focussed During Exams

It’s not uncommon to see supposed bright students sometimes mess up in exams. What are some of the best ways to stay focussed during exams? Would it be to load up on energy drink and keep the coffee dripping? What about a different tactic?

One teacher had the idea to cover up the clock and try to take a new approach to keeping students focused during exams. The English teacher put a sign over the classroom clock saying “time is passing, are you?” and I’m sure the students truly appreciated it…

Would you put something like this up? Personally, I feel like I used the clock in the classroom as a means to measure my progress on an exam, to set aside a certain amount of time, and to basically keep myself on track so I wouldn’t miss out on having enough time for a particular section of the exam. Ever began to write an essay for an exam only to have a teacher tell you time is up? That’s never good. What do you think anyway?
