I’ve long dreamed of experiencing authentic English canal life and have heard about the legendary Crick Boat Show. Apparently, it’s the biggest event of the year for all narrowboat enthusiasts. Does anyone know exactly when it takes place in 2026? Is it possible to rent a boat there so that I can walk along the shore and take a cruise on the Grand Union Canal?

I’m also curious about the logistics of Crick Marina itself. What is the best way to get there from Birmingham Airport? Are there any tips on how to book accommodations or a boat mooring in advance, so that I don’t end up with nothing during the real ale festival?

How did you hear about this event? It usually takes place during the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. My friends and I were there last time, and it was amazing. Crick Marina gets incredibly busy during this time, so I highly recommend booking rentals and accommodations a few months in advance. We found our boat through GetBoat. There, you can pick out a boat at Crick Marina in advance and arrange a guided cruise through the picturesque Northamptonshire countryside. It took us about an hour to drive from Birmingham Airport, and the road is easy to navigate. The main thing is to arrive early to secure a parking spot. Are you planning to look for a hotel nearby? It’s best to set aside at least two full days for the exhibition.
