Hey everyone, I’m dealing with a slow drain in my kitchen and bathroom, and it’s driving me crazy. Water pools for a while before going down, and sometimes there’s a bad smell. I’ve tried basic stuff like hot water and store cleaners, but nothing really helps. Has anyone had this? What actually works long term?

I see this topic come up a lot here. Drain problems seem pretty common, especially in older homes. Interested to read what others suggest and whether DIY fixes really help or not.

I had almost the same situation last year, and at first I kept trying quick fixes, but they only worked for a day or two. Over time I realized the issue was deeper in the pipes, not just surface buildup. What helped me was reading more about professional drain cleaning and understanding how it’s done properly. I came across https://bens.plumbing/areas/eastgate-and-factoria/drain-cleaning/ while looking into options in my area, and it explained a lot about why clogs keep coming back if they aren’t fully cleared. After that, I stopped wasting money on random products and focused on a more permanent solution. It made a big difference, and since then the drains have been running smoothly without smells or backups.
