Two Students of the Ambassadors College emerge Winners of the Cowbellpedia Math Quiz!

Two Students of the Ambassadors College, Ota in Ogun State of Nigeria has emerged winners of the 2016 edition of the Cowbellpedia Mathematics Television Quiz Show. The Students are Juliet Ekoko and Ayooluwa Oguntade and they won in both the junior and senior categories respectively.

Oguntade who is currently the Head Boy of his school aspires to study Engineering at the University. He also nurtures the ambition of running his own company someday.  He said during an interview shortly after winning the competition that “the top CEOs I read about studied Engineering and run their companies. I also want to have an engineering degree and run my own company.”

The Guardian Nigerian reported that Mr. Oliver Thiry, the Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited said that the Cowbellpedia secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show is designed to arouse and re-awaken the interest of students in mathematics at the secondary school level in the country. He further noted that economic development in advanced countries occurred due to a strong foundation in STEM education; thereby concluding that STEM education would galvanize Nigeria’s economy in such a direction once the nation builds a strong foundation for it.

In their commitment to encourage students’ interest in STEM subjects particularly Mathematics, Promasidor Nigeria Limited increased the prize money for the finals of this year’s competition for both students and teachers. The top prize winner in each category went home with one million naira each in addition to an all-expense paid education excursion outside the country. Teachers of the winning student in each category also got N400, 000 each
