UNIJOS students protest hike in fees, exams postponed

Students of the University of Jos, UNIJOS, yesterday, protested the purported systematic increase of school fees by management of the school, saying they were already paying exorbitant fees for poor services, Vanguard reports.

President of the Students’ Union Government, SUG, Abel Nok Du, said the students were not happy with the increase of their levies, for which they had written and notified the school authorities.

He said: “We are calling for the removal of N10,000 development levies from our school fees; we are also calling for the reduction of N25,000 acceptance fees for admission.

“Our properties have been destroyed because students accused us of compromise.”

Meanwhile, management of the university has denied the increase in fees and also postponed the second semester exams slated for yesterday (Monday) to December 1 to address the issues.
