University of Ilorin Plans Uninterrupted Power Supply on Campus

University of Ilorin seeks to become a University that will be Africa’s Centre of Excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Abdul Ganiyu Ambali, on Tuesday said that the institution was planning to provide uninterrupted power supply on its campus.

Mr. Ambali stated this in Ilorin when he declared open the ninth Mosobolaje Oyawoye Faculty of Science Endowed Lecture Series at the University main auditorium.

He said the plan was part of a strategy to prepare the University to key into the Federal Government’s plans to have at least six of the Nigerian Universities as African Centres of Excellence.

According to him, one key milestone of this effort is to see stable and uninterrupted power supply in selected universities in the country.

“These centres can be home to modern laboratories and equipment that can be shared by other institutions within the geopolitical zone,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the University was set to secure the slot for North Central geopolitical zone, adding: “our proposal is almost ready”.
