Abraham Lincoln’s Story Can Inspire You!

Hello everyone! Happy new week to you!  Let me ask you, have you ever failed an examination before? Perhaps you have seen your last term’s result and you saw many scores in red, most likely, the first thought that crisscrossed your mind was, “I failed again” or “I have failed” whatever it is, take a cue from John Wooden  who said “Failure isn’t fatal, but failure to change might be”.

I have an exemplary personality to consider today in our attempt to learn to become successful, someone who was persistent having recognised that according to Gena Showalter, “Giving up is the only sure way to fail”. He asserted the truism in the words of Denis Waitley, “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing”. He failed and he succeeded eventually! He is Abraham Lincoln!

Lincoln’s life has been trailed by so many intriguing events, he was born in poverty, and he had to face defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business, suffered nervous breakdown and was bedridden for six months. He could have quit many times, but he didn’t quit and became one of the greatest presidents in America.
Here is a sketch of Lincoln’s road to White House

In 1831, Abraham Lincoln failed in business.

In 1832, Abraham Lincoln was defeated for state legislator.

In 1833, Abraham Lincoln tried a new business, and failed.

In 1835, Abraham Lincoln’s fiancée died.

In 1836, Abraham Lincoln had a nervous breakdown.

In 1843, Abraham Lincoln ran for congress and was defeated.

In 1848, Lincoln ran again, and was defeated. Again!

In 1855, Lincoln ran for the Senate, and lost.

In 1856, Lincoln ran for Vice President, and lost.

In 1859, Lincoln ran again for the Senate. He was defeated.

Then, in 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States.

What matters most is not how many times you fail, but that you never stop trying.

It’s time to be pragmatic about the lessons you have accrued from this mighty man. Take some time to reminisce about your last session’s result and learn from your failures!  Last term is now past, welcome to a new term, and take a bold step to get excellent grades this term!
