There was this girl who REALLY liked this guy. He really liked her back, and it was obvious that they would make a great couple. The only thing holding her back? He was short, and he was a lot shorter than her.
She didn’t want to date someone who was shorter than her, and so she blew him off to date someone else. A few months later, she was still in love with him, and she realized she made a big mistake, but at that point, it was too late. He was dating someone else and he was happy. So, she lost out on what could have been because she was unreasonable!!
It’s pretty certain this girl is not the first to bring up a height issue when it comes to dating. A lot of girls (and boys sometimes) feel it’s weird to date a guy who is shorter than them. For some reason, they think it is not socially acceptable for dudes to be shorter than the girl they are dating. It’s a silly social norm that makes people feel badly about themselves for no reason. So, the short answer to the above posed question is: No, it’s not weird to date someone who is shorter than you.
While it can be understood that a big height difference in a relationship can be awkward. But to be reasonable about such matters, one should think of how devastated they would be if the guy or girl they like, refuses to date them because of how short they are. We definitely wouldn’t like that! So, it goes to figure that it simply will not be fair to hold a person’s height against them – because they literally have no way to control that.
A person’s height doesn’t mean they cannot be a great person. If you two really like each other, you owe it to yourself to give the relationship a chance.
That being said, it’s important to realize that some people will tease you if you are taller than the person you date (especially if you are a girl!). There will be people who will tease him for being shorter. They will say things like:
I am sure he has to stand on a stool if he ever hopes to talk looking into your eyes
Ignore these ones, they are really lame and superficial. People always have something to say no matter what the situation is, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go through with something that makes you happy. Being short or tall is no crime, and neither is it something to be ashamed of!!
