If you are curious about computer systems and would like to know how they do what they do, then you are in much luck as there’s now a way to do that and still combine it with school! How exactly?
Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) is offering a range of after-school programmes, specially designed for those between 5 and 18 years to learn computer coding without disruption to their normal school routine. Sweet! you say?
On offer are three programmes – the re:learn After-school Club, Gap Year Club, and the Weekend Club – which will last for 6 weeks from November 7 to December 17, 2016, and will take place at CcHub’s centres in Lagos and Abuja.
The programmes will feature an Open Day for parents and schools to sign up their kids/students for an hour of free programming sessions. This has been scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2016 from from 11.00am – 3.00pm.
- The re:learn After-School Club is a programme that will provide one hour of programming lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is open to students from Primary 1 to SS3, with lessons running from 4pm to 5pm. Interested participants can register here.
- The re:learn Gap Year Club is for kids who have completed secondary school but won’t be starting university until a few months or the following year. This session will hold on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 3pm. For this one, there are two tracks to choose from. Registration for either of the tracks can be completed here.
- Lastly, the re:learn Weekend Club is for parents who can’t make time out during the week to get their children to the re:learn venues. For those who fall in this category, they can sign up for 3 hours of fun learning every Saturday from November 7 to December 17 2016.
For those interested in the Open Day at re:learn event, it’s a programme where kids can interact with project demos and try their hands at building their own mini projects, ranging from computer animations, games and electronics irrespective of their age or experience. You can reserve your tickets here.
Because computer programmers will continue to be highly relevant in our world for decades to come, this set of skills is one you should absolutely have! Trust me, if I were in that age bracket, I would register in a heartbeat. Don’t waste the opportunity – a free one at that!
