A couple of days ago, we refreshed your collective minds with the nominations list for the biggest music award in Nigeria – The Headies.
And things got interesting when a play of power was displayed between Don Jazzy and Olamide. Olamide threw his drink on the stage after he and the YBNL crew led Adekunle Gold to the stage to receive his Best Alternative Song award, seizing this opportunity; Olamide threw shade about how Lil Kesh was robbed of The Next Rated award, which went to Mavin’s Reekado Bankz. After making his heated speech, he stormed out of the hall with his crew.
So, when Don Jazzy came to the stage to receive his Special Recognition Award, he added more fuel to the fire by calling Olamide out. He plainly told him to come and get the Hyundai car attached to The Next Rated award if that was what he desired badly, adding that he could afford to buy his “children” (referring to the Mavins’ crew) cars – something he had promised them prior to the award. Ouch!
We may have just witnessed the beginning of real, solid beef between the two stars. Perhaps, we should keep our fingers crossed for a diss track anytime soon!
