The Oyo State Police Command yesterday paraded a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, for allegedly kidnapping a two-year-old girl.
Addressing newsmen at Eleyele headquarters of the command, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Indabawa said the suspect was arrested following a distress call and he was immediately trailed into the bush, where he was apprehended. He said items recovered from the suspect included, one jack knife, one face cap, one cable wire, a pair of the victim’s sandals and a LAUTECH identity card.
Speaking with newsmen, the suspect, Tosin (24), who claimed to be studying Electrical-Electronics at the institution, confirmed that he committed the crime with the intention of collecting N700,000 ransom.
The police boss said the victim will soon be charged to court.
