PATHETIC: Flood Sweeps Away SS3 Student In Delta

 

Heavy rainfall in Alieshime community, Agbor Ika South local government area of the Delta State has swept away a female SS3 student of Aliseme Mixed Secondary School.

The victim, identified as Bose Igbenoba was said to be one of those writing the Senior School Certificate Exam at the time of the incident.

A source in the community who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the deceased was swept into a gutter by the rain and got drowned before help could come her way.

The source said the heavy rain which was accompanied by a whirlwind also destroyed property including houses, a poultry farm and electricity poles, adding that the victim had since been buried by her relations.

Reacting on the development, the Chairman of Alisime Idumu-Uteni Executive Committee, Mr. Augustime Uwagu lamented the devastating effect of the rainfall and appealed to the state government, public spirited body and individuals to come to the aid of those whose property were destroyed while also condoling the deceased’s family.

Meanwhile, two men identified as Jacob Ose and Kenneth Okpor have been arrested by the police in Ogawshi-Uku for allegedly breaking into stores in the area and carting away valuables belonging to a prominent politician and a lady who lives somewhere around Ogbeofu Quarters in Ogwashi-uku.

Police officers at the Ogwashi-uku Police Division who preferred anonymity confirmed that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off, after they had successfully robbed their victims.
