#PNN E-MENTORING (Kayla Chanai): Tips to becoming a successful teenager

Once again, I’m glad to be with you on this platform and I would like us to continue on tips to becoming a successful teen. Last time we talked about making a decision; a clear decision to be successful. After making the decision, what do you do next?

Begin With the End in Mind

What kind of success do you want to achieve as success means different things to different people. If you are not clear about where you want to end up in life – about your values, goals, and what you stand for, you will wander, waste time, and be tossed to and fro by the opinions of others. Help yourself by creating a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and direct and guide your decision-making process.

You can have simple goals like being at the top of your class by the end of the term, learning to listen more and talk less, being Passnownow starboy/girl, abstaining from sex, or even helping others. Once you write down that goal, then you channel your whole actions, time and being to achieving it and when anyone or anything tries to discourage you or push you away from that goal, remember the end. Remember the joy, fulfillment or reward you would get when you achieve that goal. No obstacle should surpass that.

Is it your education? Your success, or your friends’ opinion? This will help you prioritize right.

Sharpen yourself

Never get too busy living to take time to renew yourself. It’s important to personally sharpen yourself so you can deal better with life. It means regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of life – body, brain, heart, and soul.
