#PNN E-Mentoring (Taiwo Akinlami): Personal Safety/Self Protection For Teenagers – Guidelines To Responses (12)

Dear young friends: sure you are doing well today. I am excited to be here with you on this day that the Lord made. The year is fast running to an end and I am expectant that the best of the year is still ahead. What about you? I believe you are still very expectant for your dreams to come true this year. Your dream for better grades in school is still possible. The dream to make meaningful friends is still possible. The dream to have a better relationship with your parents is still possible. Your breath is a proof that your dreams are still possible in 2014.

Today I will round up our discussion on how to take responsibility for our protection from domestic violence. I already shared three (3) measures with you. I will share the last measures today as follows:

IV. Always exercise caution: caution is the key to safety, particularly within the home. What does caution mean here? Caution simply means being calm enough to pay attention to our environment, understand same and how to respond if something goes wrong. Caution may require a commitment not to overlook warnings about danger. Caution here may also mean vigilance about things around us. I visited a home recently and I wanted to use the toilet and saw that the toilet bowl has cracked. I quickly called their attention to it. That is caution at work. I did not even sit on the bowl. I am aware that toilet bowls have broken and seriously injured the users. It is always a terrible domestic accident.

V. Do not rush in and out of the bathroom: I believe that our slowest moment should be when we are entering, staying and coming out of the bathroom. This is more important when you are using a bath top, which may be slippery and it may be dangerous and lead to fatal accidents within the home. There are many people, who have slipped and died in their bath room. I decided to address this as a separate point because it is very important, being the cause of death within the home.

I think I have succeeded in concluding the tips on how to prevent domestic accidents. I think it has been interesting. I will resume our discussion next week with tips on how to protect yourself from traffic related accidents. I hope to end this series this year, because I already have a well-prepared discussion to start you with in the New Year. I am signing out here. I will be here again next week by God’s grace. Stay Smart! Do have an INSPIRED week.
