These teens prefer pizza, puf puf and other related junk snacks. If you are such a teen, this post is intended to let you in on some of the good stuff you’ve been missing out on. Perhaps after reading this, you may want to try training their taste buds to like fruits and vegetables because guess what, eating them might actually make you happier!
A new study has revealed that people who eat a lot of fruit are benefited from some happier feelings after keeping up the good eating habits for at least years. According to the study in question, the sort of happy feeling we’re talking about is similar to the feeling you get after getting your first job after being unemployed for a while, or winning a jackpot after being broke for months. Now that’s a nice feeling!
Now we’ve always known that fruits and vegetables offer us immense health benefits- talk about those essential vitamins and nutrients, lowering our risk of heart disease, and even helping to prevent against some types of nasty cancer. And now we’ve just been informed that it makes us happy too; how awesome! Maybe we’ve always known that too; I mean eating fruits is always such fun after all! So just in case you’ve never been a fan, now is the time to start munching on those things. The average teenager is supposed to eat between two and three cups of vegetables per day, and between one-and-a-half (1 ½) to two cups of fruit per day.
Science is yet to really establish how fruits and veggies can make you happier, but they suspect antioxidants could be behind the mood-boosting benefits. The researchers are hoping the improved mood benefits will be more of a pull for people (especially teenagers) to actually get to love their greens and fruits. And we sincerely hope that happens!
