TEENAGERS FIND IT BORING TO STUDY: Let’s speak clear; staring at a textbook for hours trying to comprehend the meaning embedded on the pages can be quite strenuous. Trust me, I understand just how stressful this can be; after all I myself was once [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][and still am] a student. What’s worse; some textbooks are written in such an abstract, dry and completely boring manner. Some subject areas are also intrinsically boring. Moreover, studying is such a routine! And teenagers hate routines. All of these can make for a really boring study time.  Now considering how teenagers are [by nature] very distracted with little or no patience at all, it can be really hard for them to concentrate  and study. But not to worry because as bad as this may seem, the good news  is that there are ways to remedy it. For instance, textbooks must be written in a fun, “teenagecentric” manner so as to excite teenagers to read them. Also, using many interesting illustrations to depict the points and further explain what is being conveyed will not only capture teenagers’ interests but also enable comprehend. More so, teenagers are eager to study those subjects taught by teachers they like. So, teachers should enddeavour to endear themselves to students, please!

THE LACK OF CONDUCIVE STUDY ENVIRONMENTS CAN ALSO CAUSE TEENAGERS TO HATE STUDYING:  It’s unfortunate that most Nigerian teenagers hardly have their own spaces at home due [mainly] to the cramped living conditions prevalent in most homes. No thanks to the bad economic situation in the country, crampy living conditions poses  serious challenge sto Nigerian teenagers who can hardly find comfortable locations in their homes to study. The reality is that most times study desks are absent even as electricity disappoints. There is noise both from within and outside the house. In these kinds of situations, it can only take a truly determined teenager to concentrate, learn and comprehend. But for those who are easily distracted, learning becomes a really difficult process such that they can’t but hate it. So what can be done to remedy this? This is a million dollar question to which many answers can be given. What can be said at the moment is that both parents and the teenagers should figure out a way to create conducive study spaces in homes no matter how difficult this may be to actualize.

THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING: This is yet another reason students hate to study. Some teenagers do not just realize why they have to study at all. When this happens, they tend to treat learning with nonchalance, and worst still  hate entire study process especially when forced into it. But guess what, learning is really important! As a matter of fact, your success in life depends mostly on what you learn and how well you are able to apply such knowledge into real life situations.  I’m sure most of you already do know this. But just in case you didn’t, now you do. So get to love your books and be better prepared for all round excellence in life.

In conclusion, studying is hard work and just like any type of work, it can be tiring. Moreover, it is only a few people that really like to work in this world; humans by nature tend to avoid anything to require [us] to exert our energy. So it is understandable [therefore] why any teenager may hate studying. The fact that it is so unappealing and yet unavoidable  can make for lots of frustration. But just bear in mind that despite the challenges associated with it, learning offers immense benefits which are encouragements enough! So study hard, please!
