Teens! Here are some Career Truths no Teacher will teach you in School

Clearly speaking, the education system in most countries (specifically in Nigeria) is full of deceits. It does not only equip students with the necessary skills they need to be efficient in their future career, but also fails to inform them of such deficiencies. Instead, schools are determined to churn out a bunch of students into the labour market every year, students who have only be prepped to cram and regurgitate they have crammed. This never augurs well for the students or employers much less the economy. It is indeed the bane of our society; the very reason why there are so many graduates in the streets who are characterized as “unemployable” and cannot employ themselves either. But I am going to expose these hidden truths to you now, with the hope that you will use them to your advantage and be better than those before you who did not know any better. Read below please…

-Teachers will never tell you that the education they are giving you is basic neither will they tell you that you still have a lot to learn.

-They will hardly tell you that you really need to acquire lots of skills outside of the classroom.

-They will not tell you that your ability to be a performer at your future job is not necessary dependent on your grades in school, but on how well you are able to apply the knowledge you have acquired.

-They will never tell you that in order to get a job in Nigeria, you will have to be extra good or highly connected.

They will not even tell you that the education you are getting is substandard.

-They will hardly tell you that you do not need to pick your career based on the “ancient” belief that some careers will make you instantly wealthy.

-They will hardly tell you how much you need to build your career around what you are passionate about.

-They will hardly tell you much less make provisions for you to volunteer or intern as a way of getting practical, hands on experience.

-They will not tell you that the real education begins the moment you get your first job.
