Want Google To Forget Those Embarrassing Memories Of You? Follow This Step-By-Step Process

Do a little test. Type your name into the Google Search bar and see what it brings back. Chances are if you have done the good, bad, and ugly and left those memories on the internet, that you will find them. Just ask Ray Jay and Kim Kardashian, the internet never forgets!

Google, for example, keeps tabs on a lot of data about you. How and when you surf the web, the search terms you use, the pages you visit (if you visit them while logged into your Google Account from a Chrome browser, an Android device, or by clicking on them in Google.)

You could avoid the problem entirely by searching in incognito mode. It’s a good option if you know you are going to surf something that had better remain a secret. But if you haven’t been using this mode, you may have been giving Google plenty of data to mine!

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. Reason being that Google keeps such information for the purpose of remembering the sorts of things you usually click on in order to offer you results that are more relevant. What’s more? You can view what Google knows and erase the things you do not want Google to consider when showing you adverts.

But what if you do not like the adverts Google is showing? Simple, just erase it! So, how do you go about doing this?

  • Log into your Google account and go to history.google.com
  • Check the box to the left of the item, then click on the remove button.
  • You could do the same thing by clearing your browser history and cookies (but this only works on the computer you are using).
  • Clearing it from your Google history works for searches from any computer or device where you were logged into your Google account.
