Armenia is located in the southern Caucasus and is the smallest of the former Soviet republics. It is bounded by Georgia on the north, Azerbaijan on the east, Iran on the south, and Turkey on the west.

1. Armenia gets its name from the Old Persian Behistun inscription as Armina. It is also known as Hayk in native Armenian language.

10. The national flag of Armenia, consists of three horizontal bands of equal width, red on the top, blue in the middle, and orange (also described as “colour of apricot”) on the bottom. It was adopted on 24 August 1990.
