Movies Showing This Weekend at the Cinemas

Another school week has ended, and you can breath a sigh of relief for two days at least (that is if some no-fun teacher did not bog you down with a ton of homework!) Even if that is the case, you can still get your work done, and have yourself a merrily happy and fun weekend with these movies which will be showing at the Silverbird and Genesis Deluxe cinemas.

Crimson Peak


It has a bit of drama, fantasy and horror mixed in. After marrying the charming and seductive Sir Thomas Sharpe, young Edith (Mia Wasikowska) finds herself swept away to his remote gothic mansion in the English hills. Also living there is Lady Lucille, Thomas’ alluring sister and protector of her family’s dark secrets. Able to communicate with the dead, Edith tries to unravel the mystery behind the ghostly visions that haunt her new home. As she comes closer to the truth, Edith learn that true monsters are made of flesh and blood.



A teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) is upset about moving from a big city to a small town. There, he meets his hot new neighbour, Hannah (Odeya Rush), and is surprised to learn that Hannah’s mysterious father is R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the famous author of the best-selling Goosebumps series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it’s up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.

Breaking Through


This is a drama and music movie which sees Casey, a dancer who is discovered on YouTube, get thrust into the modern world of internet celebrity and culture, she must find a way to balance her true identity with her online persona, or risk losing everything she cares about.

Brush With Danger


This is an Action-Thriller. It is relatively new, and tells the story of fugitive siblings — one a fighter (Ken Zheng) and one an artist (Livi Zheng) who become entangled with Seattle criminals who want to exploit their talents.

Once Upon A Time

This is a Nollywood movie about King Josiah who loses his wife under strange circumstances. He struggles to rule a kingdom while trying to build a relationship with his two unbearable children. It seems an impossible task until an unwanted guest comes from nowhere to complicate issues. It features Seun Akindele, Sanni Danja, Misola Iyun, Wole Ojo, and Sandra Eze



It is the story of a 12-year old orphan, Peter Pan (Levi Miller) who is living a miserable life at a London orphanage, and finds himself whisked away to the fantastical world of Neverland. Here, he meets adventure, and new friends James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), and Tiger Lily, the warrior (Rooney Mara).

Together, they must band together to save Neverland from the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). Along the way, the rebellious and mischievous boy discovers his true destiny, becoming the hero forever known as Peter Pan.
