With the harmattan season almost upon us, now’s the perfect time for a lip balm upgrade. Whether you’re totally over super-sweet flavors or just want to graduate to a tinted version, searching for a new go-to lip treatment can be tough since there are so many to choose from.
But did you know that there are other uses for lip balm other than for your lips? I did a little research and found some extremely useful possibilities for these wonderful moisturizers.
Here are some of really classic uses for lip balm that are always very helpful!
1. Hair Taming
Just rub a little bit of lip balm on the palms or finger tips of your hands and slick it over your hair a bit! So next time, instead of dabbing water all over your hair, give the lip balm a try!
2. Dry Skin
Dry Skin Have you ever discovered those itchy patches of dry skin that are always so irritating and uncomfortable, but you just ran out of your last jar of vaseline? Don’t fret just yet! Lip balm to the rescue! Dab a little bit of lip balm on your fingers and gently rub onto dry skin that you might get on your knuckles or even on the heels of your feet!
3. Lubricating Zippers
Ever got to zip up your skirt and find yourself struggling more than you need to? Spread a little lip balm on the zipper and try again. The lubricating qualities of the balm will help to loosen up the stuck zipper and help you unzip or zip much more smoothly! No more yanking!
4. Shine Shoes
Want to add some shine and sparkle to your dull looking shoes? If you spread a little bit of lip balm and buff your shoes with a clean, dry rag, your lip balm will double as a handy shoe shiner! If you don’t really need to shine your shoes a lot, you may spread a little balm across the knot of your laces so they stay in place a little better when you have got a long day ahead of you! Try it out!
5. Stop Minor Cuts and Scratches
If you accidentally drop a kitchen knife on your foot, I would not suggest spreading a little lip balm on it and be good to go, especially if you’re missing a few toes now. However, if you cut yourself on a sharp edge of paper of you get a little scrape, lip balm can soothe and help to heal your minor cut faster. But remember that this is only for minor cuts and scratches! No rubbing lip balm on big gashes that need medical attention!
6. Repair Scratched CD’s
This use for lip balm is probably one of the most surprising! I’m not sure how many people still listen to CD’s on a regular basis, but if you still have a few lying around, why not bring them out and test this use on them! You will be surprised by how well it works! Just spread a little bit of lip balm on a few scratches, wipe away the excess and it will be good to go once again! Very interesting and useful function if you happen to be a CD buff!
Yeah, harmattan will soon be upon us (maybe not that much in Lagos), but lip balm is like nothing else when your lips are dry and chapped. But now you get even more uses for the ever trusty lip balm!
