7 Very Real Dangers Of Texting And Walking

We all love staying connected. What’s a dude gotta do when he’s attached to his phone like almost 24/7 answering texts, tweets, commenting of Facebook posts and what have you? We just can’t help but stay connected, except when it almost gets us killed. I can remember the other time I was doing some stuff on my phone and walking around as well. And that led to an accident. I literally ran into another person who was also texting and walking. It was a very awkward collision. I wish it had been some adorable meet-cute that I could have got a date out of, but it wasn’t. We were both just really annoyed and muttered at each other and walked away.

Almost immediately after my texting and walking mishap, I witnessed a man wipe out on the sidewalk because he was looking at his phone and tripped over the curb. We’re always talking about not texting and driving (stop doing that!) but no one ever talks about texting and walking, which is also apparently very dangerous.

It may help you keep in touch.  But texting while walking could make you lose your balance. Here are some dangers of texting and walking that you should think about before you do it.

Getting Hit By A Car

It’s so scary! Don’t text when you’re crossing the street!

Running Into Things

Do you know how many objects are just on sidewalks? Street signs, telephone poles, street lights and more! The world is basically one giant and dangerous obstacle course.

Running Into Other People

I’m still so appalled that I did this. I wasn’t even looking! I just ran right into another person. They should have been paying attention too, but this could have been easily avoided if we weren’t on our phones.

Falling Down The Stairs

You know that scary feeling you have when you miss a step but you catch yourself? Well, sometimes you might not be so lucky.

Tripping Over Stuff

If you’re not paying attention you can trip over the curb, cracks in the sidewalk or anything else like the poor lady I witnessed.

Breaking Your Phone

Chances are if you fall while texting and walking, you’re going to throw your hands out to save yourself while sacrificing your phone.

Other Risk

If you’re a girl, you’re also more likely to be targeted and/or attacked by a rapist, mugger, etc. They look for ladies who are not paying attention to their surroundings, especially if a girl is busy looking at her phone. And if you’re a guy, you can easily get robbed as well.
