Teachers in both public primary and secondary schools in Osun state yesterday commenced a three-day warning strike to register their grievances over alleged non-payment of running and examination grants to secondary schools for the past three terms.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo by the Principal Secretary, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Osun State Wing, Comrade Muhammed Abudulahi, highlighted the demands of the union to include non-provision of instructional materials like chalks, school registers and text books and non- payment of leave grants to secondary school teachers since December 2013 as well as non-payment of examination grants to primary schools for the past six terms.
Abudllahi who noted that the development had hindered effective performance of teachers in the classroom, alleged that principals and head teachers had been running the schools with their salaries.
