African Patriotic Youth Assembly (PAYAS) are engaging young Nigerians in an essay contest to write a letter to Mr President discussing prevailing issues in the country.
PAYAS have announced that entries are now being received for the essay contest entitled “Letter to Mr. President”. The competition targets young Nigerian participants who are between the ages of 18 – 25 to enter into the essay competition.
PAYAS said “Participants are expected to write a letter to the president on three key areas of profound achievements, partial achievement, and areas demanding attention that were yet to be touched. Letter should state in clear terms the effects of the policies on the people, and suggest how the president might improve them if need be.”
Submission of essays are already ongoing and the deadline is on 13 February, 2015. The top 50 essays will be selected as winners who will be announced on 16 February, 2015 and rewarded with cash prize of N100,000 each. The top 50 essays will be published as a book and delivered as a manifesto to Mr. President.
This is a good opportunity for young Nigerians to intelligently engage their leaders and contribute a meaningful quota to nation building and governance.
