Technology giant, Apple, has created a new device, Apple Watch, that can collect data about the health status of its users. This new technology may lend more credence to the saying ‘an apple a day, keeps the doctor away’
Apple’s first wearable device, comes with most of the hallmark features already on its other products – the voice activated command program, Siri, the Watch’s sleek design. But these are not all. In addition, the apple’s smart watch comes with a set of advanced sensor that help track and gather a variety of health data, like number of calories burned and heart rate and can alert users that they’ve been sitting for too long.
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, during an investment presentation said “A lot of doctors believe that sitting is the new cancer”. Cook added that users will have the option to share their health-related data with physicians, which could make it easier for doctors and patients to correlate information.
The Apple Watch will go on sale later this quarter, starting at $349 (N 69,800). However, many Apple employees have already been using the device. “We have a lot of meetings and a lot of employees,” Cook said. “And ten minutes before the hour, [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][the watch] will tap you … and everybody will start standing up.”
Indeed, an apple everyday, keeps doctors away.
Apple became the first company in the world to reach a $700 billion market capitalization on Tuesday.
