Get To Know About Leaders That Are Changing the World: Case Study of Mark Zuckerberg

Recently, I came across a striking statement from a Leadership Expert, John C. Maxwell, he said, “Just as Change is a constant phenomenon so also is Leadership, and as such, everything rises and falls on Leadership”. It struck me primarily because I’m a Leader and as it appears, in my sphere of influence, everything rises and falls on my leadership. Trust me, it applies to you too.

From my recent study on Leadership and Leaders, I discovered that for a man to be regarded as a leader especially in a particular field of endeavour, it means he/she is an Authority in that field. This quite implies that they have a unique product or service that they are offering and before this can come to be, they must have identified their unique selling point, which can mean what they do best, their strengths!

Do you know your strength? What exactly do you do best? Have you identified it? If you haven’t, permit me to remind you that, you might not stand the test of time as a leader if you fail to identify what you do best.

Our focus will be on Mark Zuckerberg today, reading about him will give you a glimpse of idea on what made him a successful leader in the world.

According to Wikipedia, Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born May 14, 1984 and is an American programmer, Internet entrepreneur, executive, and philanthropist. He is the chairman, chief executive officer, and co-founder of social networking website Facebook. His net worth is estimated to be US$54.5 billion as of September 2016, ranking him as the 5th richest person in the world.

Together with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, he launched Facebook from Harvard’s dormitory rooms. The group then introduced Facebook to other campuses. Facebook expanded rapidly, with one billion users by 2012. Zuckerberg was involved in various legal disputes that were initiated by others in the group, who claimed a share of the company based upon their involvement during the development phase of Facebook.

Since 2010, Time magazine has named Zuckerberg among the 100 wealthiest and most influential people in the world as a part of its Person of the Year distinction.

He remains an enviable personality to the youths for having to advance through the ladder of success in the top echelons of billionaires in the business world at a young age of 32. This is fascinating to me; I guess it is to you to!

Mark understood his strength as being a geek in computer programming and he committed his entire energy to developing himself in programming and the result has been more money for him and even fame. You remember when he came to Nigeria few weeks ago? The news flew through the length and breadth of Africa.

If you want to be a great student leader, identify your strength and develop it. Cheers!
