Africa is undoubtedly a multicultural continent. And truth be told, our continent’s rich cultural heritage (many thanks to the many tribes) serves as our pride as Africans. Are you proud to be African? Well you should be! Anyway, in this post I have selected some of the most popular tribes from across Africa, tribes famous for their unique cultures and vast population sizes. Chances are you already know most of them. XHOSA: Starting from the southern part of the continent, the Xhosa people live mainly in the Eastern Cape parts of South Africa; although they are known to be found in other parts of the country and even in Zimbabwe. The Xhosa tribe is one of the most popular tribes in Southern Africa, the whole of Africa and indeed elsewhere. And one of the things that make them unique is their language which has been described as having literal click sounds. Very interesting right?!
HAUSA: The Hausa people (as you may well know) are predominantly found in Northern parts of Nigeria- West Africa. Theirs is possibly the largest ethnic group in the whole of Africa, with a significant number of them residing in places like Chad, Niger, Togo, Ivory Coast, Sudan and Ghana. The Hausa people have had a long [unique] history and culture. They can be easily recognized due to their beauty and slim frames. Gotta love the slim, model-looking and absolutely beautiful teenager girls of Hausa descent!
MAASAI: The Maasai people of Kenya in East Africa have one of the most popular tribes in Africa. The Maasai tribe has deeply-rooted traditions and the people are famous for living predominantly nomadic lifestyles. They value their livestock and naturally live away from modernity while tending their animals. As a matter of fact, their lifestyle is so natural and organic even as they are almost entirely dependent on their livestock. Even their meals consist mostly of animal products- meats, milk and raw blood.
