Hungary Offers 50 Nigerian Students Scholarship

Hungary has announced it will offer full scholarship to some 50 Nigerian students in medicine, technology, engineering and basic sciences starting next year.

Hungary’s secretary for foreign and external affairs Peter Szijarto called the scholarship the highpoint of talks to push forward bilateral relations with Nigeria.
During bilateral talks with supervising education minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja, Szijarto said Hungary will fund the scholarship until 2017 in its quest to ensure it develops a direct person to person relationship with Nigeria.
He added: “We are also opening an embassy in Nigeria to facilitate greater relationship between our Hungary and the most important country in West Africa.”
Wike urged Hungary to stop arbitrary increase of fees for Nigerian students in its universities, according to an official release.
But he added Nigeria would continue collaboration with Hungary to improve the level of cooperation in education.
