A. WHAT ARE COSMETICS?

Cosmetics are product which is applied in different part of the body to improve the natural features in us. They include pomade, deodorant, powder, lips sticks, creams. Cosmetics (also known as makeup or make-up) are care substances used to enhance the appearance or odor of the human body. They are generally mixtures of chemical compounds, some being derived from natural sources ( such as coconut oil) and many being synthetics.In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates cosmetics, defines cosmetics as “intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body’s structure or functions.”

TOOLS FOR MAKING POMADE 

  1. Sauce pan
  2. Mixing spoon
  3. Bottle or plastic pomade container

RECIPE

  1. 1 cup of petroleum jelly
  2. 4/5 cup of mineral oil
  3. 1% mineral wax for thickening
  4. 1 teaspoon of linolime
  5. Color and perfume

PROCEDURE

  1. Measure out all ingredients as specified
  2. Put all ingredients in a sauce pan
  3. Add linolime into the mixture
  4. Add to wax and melt
  5. Add color
  6. Add perfume and avoid evaporation
  7. Stir thoroughly to obtain your pomade and pour into the container

B. USES OF POMADE

 Below are the uses of pomade

  1. To protect the skin from harsh effects of the weather especially in dry season
  2. It can be applied to cuts and burns (minor)
  3. It can be applied to dry skin
  4. Applied on the skin after bath to give the skin a fresh healthy looks
