Federal teachers protest unpaid salaries

About 15,000 teachers from three South Western states working under a Federal Teachers’ Scheme yesterday protested in Ibadan over non-payment of their salaries by the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC.

The teachers, led by Miss Lawal Bukola and Mr. Obayomi Gideon complained that the commission owes them about N2. 6 billion.

Some of their placards read, “FG, please pay us our 11-14 months arrears; Please, Mr. President, rescue us; UBEC, we are tired of this; Mr. President, please come to our aid.”
