Jember, Indonesia – Female high school students are being coerced to have ‘virginity tests’ by school authourities before they graduate. Male students are exempted from this tests.
According to Metro UK, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the tests are based on misunderstanding of the female anatomy and that it lacks scientific validity.
Reacting to the tests, the director of Human Rights Watch Asia, Phelim Kine said, “President Joko Widodo should send a loud and unambiguous message forbidding virginity tests by local governments, as well as the Indonesian military, police and civil service.
‘The authorities should back that up by firing and appropriately prosecuting officials who promote or perpetrate virginity tests to ensure that women are protected from such abuse.
“Until he does, high school girls and their education in Jember will remain in peril.”
The country has a record of using the controversial ‘two-finger’ test on female recruits wishing to join the army or police force.

I think that’s ridiculous
Maybe we need that in Nigeria to put these girl on check
Ben, you maybe right. But do you think boys should not be cautioned? If everyone, boys inclusive, check themselves the society will be a better place.
