Jigawa nomadic schools receive learning materials worth N3m

A non-governmental organisation, the Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria, has distributed learning materials and uniforms worth N3 million to nomadic schools in Jigawa.

This has been revealed by the Executive Secretary, Jigawa state Agency for Nomadic Education, Alhaji Ali Manu, in an interview with the newsmen in Dutse on March 27, 2014, Thursday.

Manu narrated that the items were distributed to 50 nomadic schools across the 27 local government areas of the state. The items include notebooks, textbooks, pencils, erasers, rulers, slates, chalk, dusters, wall clocks and bells.

The official noted that the move was to encourage nomadic children in the state to go to school. He also expressed hope that the gesture would enhance enrolment and retention of pupils in nomadic schools.

Note – Nomads are people that travels from place to place to find fresh pasture for their animals and have no permanent home.
