NEGATIVE BEHAVIOURS

NEGATIVE BEHAVIOURS are anti-social behaviours. This refers to behaviours that are not acceptable by society and can cause harm to the wellbeing and the image of the society. A nation in which majority of its citizens engage in negative acts brings bad name, poor image and disrespect.

Below are some negative behaviours that can affect your grade.

  •  BEING UNPREPARED FOR CLASS/NOT PARTICIPATING IN CLASS DISCUSSIONS

The act of consistently going to class unprepared and not participating in class discussions won’t boost your grade rather it would affect and reduce your grade. One of the best ways to control unpreparedness is by using a planner or any calendar system that will guide and prepare you for reading.

  •  SUBMITTING LATE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

It is wrong to submit homework assignments late and this most times come with a penalty, usually a reduction in the grading or a complete refusal to accept the assignment which automatically results to you scoring a zero in that particular assignment. One of the best ways to control this is by doing your homework assignment immediately and not procrastinating.

  •  SKIPPING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

Skipping assignments is the act of not submitting a homework assignment probably because it is passed the deadline. This act won’t help boost your grade rather it would drag your grades down. It is advisable to ask your teacher if you can still submit your work; if you get a zero – it shows you at least made efforts to do the homework assignment.

  •  TALKING IN CLASS (OR OTHER DISRUPTIONS)

It is extremely disrespectful for students to discuss in class when a teacher is teaching in front, discussing in class can make the teacher and other students lose focus. This single act can make the teacher send you of the class. The best way to avoid discussing in class during lecture time is not to sit near your friends, every discussion with friends should be done before or after the class and not during the class.

  •  FAILING TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

Students who ignore the teacher’s directions stand to lose a lot. Not following the teacher’s direction might make you appear as an unserious student in the sight of the teacher, especially when extra efforts has been made in giving detailed directions on how to go about an assignment by the teacher. The easy way out here is to ensure you read and reread instructions before attempting the assignment.

  •  SKIPPING CLASS/ARRIVING LATE CONSISTENTLY

Skipping classes or arriving late to class consistently is a clear path to poor grades, you don’t expect to perform well when you consistently miss or arrive class late, and teachers won’t tolerate that act.

It is easier to learn a study material when you are present for the class compared to when you are not in the class at all, so make it a point to attend every class as this would help boost your grade.

Learn to inform your teacher on time if you must come late for a particular class, this shows you respect he teacher.

  •  PLAYING ON CELL PHONE DURING CLASS

A very boring and tiring class might tempt you to play mobile games with your phone or watch videos but bear in mind that doesn’t justify your inappropriate behaviour. Every lecture has a knowledge to pass across despite the boring nature, so you need to find a way to actively involve yourself, possibly by asking questions on areas you aren’t clear with.

  •  DISPLAYING POOR/NEGATIVE ATTITUDE

Not every lecture would catch your interest but you just have to give it your best. It is normal not to like a particular subject but never exhibit a poor or negative attitude towards the class, it would only affect your productivity and further affect your grade.

  •  FAILING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS

Refusing to take responsibility for actions won’t help you grow. Rather than accepting responsibility for a particular situation, blame is pushed to a friend or something else. This won’t help you perform better, learn to admit a mistake and find better way to avoid it.
