Science Says Showering Daily Doesn’t Do Much Good For the Skin, But…….

Showering is as much a part of everyone’s daily routine as sleeping. Whether you take them at night or in the morning, chances are it’s a thing you do regularly. If not, then gross, right? Well, that is not so true according to Dr. Elaine Larson, an infectious disease expert at Columbia University School of Nursing who says:

I think showering is mostly for aesthetic reasons. People think they are showering for hygiene or to be cleaner, but bacteriologically, that is not the case.

In similar tones, Dr. C. Brandon Mitchell, assistant professor of dermatology at George Washington University avers that:

Your body is naturally a well-oiled machine. A daily shower isn’t necessary because washing the skin too frequently strips it of essential oils.

It appears hence, that you will be just perfect with having a shower 1-2 times a week!

And while you may think that daily showers protect you from the hordes of the world’s unseen germs, that’s not exactly the case. Showering, in fact, can increase chances of contracting illness because it allows the skin to dry up, making you more susceptible to cracked skin and bacteria making its way in your system.
So, in protecting yourself from germs, experts believe that washing your hands frequently should do the trick of protecting you from disease.
But what do you do if you are all sweaty and smelly? In truth, these explanations do not take these into consideration; but please, feel free to scrub away as smelling good and looking fresh should take precedence in this case. Well, I think!
