It all began in the beautiful Swiss city of Geneva; when Hong Kong billionaire Joseph Lau bought, and renamed an exquisite diamond for his 7 year old daughter Josephine. The diamond was formerly known as the “Blue Moon“, but after the purchase was renamed the “Blue Moon of Josephine.” It weighs a hefty 12.03 carats, is an exceptionally fancy vivid blue, and costs a whopping $48.4 million (over ₦9.6 billion)

Just a day before, also in Geneva, Mr Lau purchased a 16.08-carat pink diamond, for $28.5 million (over ₦5.6 billion) which was also renamed “Sweet Josephine.”

Joseph Lau has a track record of naming gems after his daughters, 7-year-old Josephine and 13-year-old Zoe. Back in 2009, he purchased a 7.03-carat blue diamond for $9.48 million (over ₦1.8 billion). He named it, the “Star of Josephine.”
