What You Should Know About The Teachers’ Naija Reality TV Show

In the just-concluded season two edition of the Teachers Naija reality TV show, Odutola Gloria Ekene went home with two million nairas. In the season one edition which was held in 2019 to the surprise of everyone, Vivian Ifeagwu walked away with one million five hundred thousand, plus a fully-paid trip to the UAE- as the winner of the show. The two runner-ups were also rewarded.

Teachers play an indispensable role in the betterment of society. This is solidified by the fact that the responsibility of character formation and foundational development of the kids hangs not only on the shoulder of parents but also on the shoulder of teachers.

Sadly, over the years the teaching profession has not been accorded the respect and honor that is their due. This has been the negative trend, downplaying the place of teachers, which also seems to be contributing to a gradual decline in the number of people willing to enroll as teachers, in different parts of the nation.

The Reality Naija TV show is strategically planned, to correct this negative trend.

The initiative is a wonderful one, as it encourages teachers who are already in the teaching field, as well as those who are passionate about teaching but are discouraged by the negative trend.

Requirements to participate in the reality show

1) Nationality: You must be a Nigerian to be qualified to participate in this event

2) Professional Educational Degree: You must have a professional Educational Degree like a Bachelors’ Degree (B.Sc/B.A/B.Ed etcetera), a National Diploma (N.D), or a Nigeria Certificate in Education (N.C.E), to be qualified

Note that 15 contestants participated in the first edition of the show, which was held in 2019. However, the show couldn’t hold in 2020 because of the COVID 19 pandemic.

For the 2021 edition, 20 contestants were admitted, and all of them went home excited because every one of them was awarded a Post-graduate diploma scholarship and automatic membership of the chartered institute of Educational practitioners in the UK.
